FAIRBANKS, Alaska (KTVF) - The Black Alaskan Art Matters and Perseverance Theater are producing a free in-person exhibit in Fairbanks, Anchorage and Juneau, featuring painting, hip-hop and photography.

Fairbanks local, Alyssa Quintyne a co-curator for the exhibit, says the organizations wanted to do more than a facebook post in response to the event.

Their mission is to showcase work that shows the artist’s point of view.

The exhibition is meant to bring a new perspective to Alaskans, giving viewers a chance to learn more about African-American art in the interior.

“We wanted to give a space to our creatives in our way and really you know have that platform for black creatives to finally be able to their work in the way that they need to, but to also help our statewide partners throughout,” said Quintyne.

The last exhibit will conclude on Friday, June 30, at the University of Alaska Anchorage Fine Arts Building.

This is a free event for everyone. For more information about the exhibit, click the link.
